Afghanistan’s assets have been frozen by the United States, making it impossible for money to be withdrawn and used. The country has been sanctioned, and donations from all around the world have been barred. Some groups, such as the Red Cross, have succeeded in circumventing imposed restrictions, but even then, it is not sufficient to alleviate the arising problems in Afghanistan as a consequence of imprudent sanctions.
The notion that Afghans had a chance to build a good nation under US rule is simply incorrect, as the amount of aid provided pales in comparison to the trillions of dollars worth of funds in military expenditure that brought about irreparable damage. Hence it is inconceivable that the invasion was out of moral obligation but rather the cynical fulfilment of America’s own imperialist interests to meet its own needs at the expense of the inhabitants of Afghanistan.
According to the former Lance Corporal Gregory Buckley Jr., who was forced out after attempting to prevent a child from being raped in the adjacent room within a US military camp by his own allies. The individuals the US put in power were far worse than the Taliban themselves. nd they stole the people’s money. As a result one of the abused boys went and fought against the US.
“At night we can hear them screaming, but we’re not allowed to do anything about it,” the marine’s father, Gregory Buckley Sr., recalled his son telling him before he was shot to death at the base in 2012. He urged his son to tell his superiors. “My son said that his officers told him to look the other way because it’s their culture.”
There have been innumerous tragedies due to this neglect by the US and not to mention, them also championing and propagating works of authors like Khaled Hosseini who makes rape, sexual abuse and misogyny a central theme to the plots in the novels to vilify and dehumanise the Taliban as a bunch of lawless, heartless brutes in order to justify their imperialism.
The money that was provided by the US to the former Republic of Afghanistan has emanated itself in the form of corrupt politicians making a run with helicopters filled with money during their escapes. These escapes were the aftermath of the realisation that the fall of Kabul to the Taliban regime would be inevitable and any sort of resistance would be futile. And yet, the US tries to justify its actions at the expense of the people and refuses to take any responsibility for its atrocities which Republicans try to either deny or playoff as misdemeanours.
The reasons for the demolition of the statues of Bamiyan was not used under the precursor of theological stances but rather, it was an act the Taliban was morally obliged to do. This obligation was due to the negligence of foreign delegations and dignitaries having a complete lack of sympathy for the people. People were dying of famine as a result of the US sanctions. With the worldwide outcry over the demolition of two massive Buddha sculptures in Afghanistan, a Taliban official claims the Islamic leadership was enraged after a foreign delegation offered money to preserve the ancient monuments while millions of Afghans struggling with the inability to have proper meals.
”When your children are dying in front of you, then you don’t care about a piece of art,” said Sayed Rahmatullah Hashimi.
Muslim leaders on the other hand are still trying to appease those that brought about these crimes against humanity in the first place. In comparison to the current trend, how many people care that Afghanistan is on the verge of genocide and that people are dying every day? It really truly is pitiful and horrifying how rich Muslim countries have fleets of supercars on their heads and are not taking any unequivocal stances to show commitment with regards to helping Afghanistan recover. This is all the while those that have left an undeniable mark in history and the spreading of Islam, those who overpowered and vanquished, the British, the Soviets, and then the most powerful alliance of almost 50 nations are left in abject poverty.
